Athletes will not participate in competitions under the auspices of the IJF until the Russians are eliminated from the tournaments.
The Judo Federation of Ukraine refused to compete under the auspices of the IJF. Domestic athletes are not happy with the international federation’s decision to allow wrestlers from Russia to compete.
In addition, in their official appeal to the national federations of more than 100 countries, the Ukrainians made a request to support the exclusion of athletes from Russia and Belarus in international competitions.
“Before the war started, the Judo Federation of Ukraine consisted of more than 30 thousand members. Unfortunately, so far more than 80% of them can not continue their sports and coaching activities. Many judokas are stopped training and were forced to defend the territorial integrity of our country with weapons in their hands.
Expressing the slogans of friendship, unity, peace, sports outside of politics, the values of judo, at the same time, the International Judo Federation makes a purely political decision, allowing athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in Olympic qualification.
The International Judo Federation became the first of the international sports federations to grossly ignore the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee.
Judging by the latest decision, the IJF is unaware of the tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians killed, the atrocities of Russian fascists in Bucha, cities destroyed, millions of refugees losing roofs over their heads and forced to leave their homes, destroyed infrastructure, including sports, about a billion damage caused by Russian aggressors in Ukraine.
What kind of neutral status of athletes from Russia and Belarus can we talk about if these groups were trained in the middle at the expense of the budgets of their states or national federations throughout the war period.
During the more than 120 days of Russia’s military aggression on Ukrainian territory, none of the so -called “neutral athletes” and coaches expressed their attitude to the war despite a few posts of condemnation on social networks. .
We are sure that most representatives of Russian judo have been drugged by insane propaganda, supporting an aggressive policy and a war of conquest on the territory of Ukraine.
In the application of the Russian national team for the Grand Slam tournament in Ulaanbaatar, published on the official website of the IJF, there are 28 judoists, 11 of them are active servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
No one in the IJF is ashamed that the armed forces of the Russian Federation are waging an aggressive and destructive war on the territory of our country, and the so -called “neutral athletes” are active representatives of the RF Armed Forces and will carry tatahs in the world, in addition to the so -called “neutral status” also ranks of soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
We were extremely disappointed with the IJF’s decision and we decided to leave participation in all sporting events organized by the International Judo Federation until the Judo Federations of Russia and Belarus were eliminated from participation in IJF competitions in any status.
