Manchester City extend contract with Lewis

New deal with 18-year-old talent will run until 2028

Manchester city officially announced the extension of the contract with the defender Rico Lewis. With the teenager signed a new agreement for a period of five years.

The 18-year-old’s previous contract with the Townspeople expired in the summer of 2024.

Note that in November last year, Rico Lewis became the youngest player in the history of the Champions League, who scored a goal on his debut in the starting lineup in the tournament. At the time the record was set, the player’s age was 17 years and 346 days.

At the end of last season, Lewis played 23 matches in all competitions for the Citizens, scoring 1 goal. In many ways, it was his progress that allowed Pep Guardiola to painlessly part with Joao Cancelo, who is currently trying to sign Barcelona.

Lewis won the treble with Manchester City last season. In the new season, he started in the winning match of the 1st round against Burnley (3:0). In the next round, Guardiola’s team will play at home against Newcastle on 19 August.
