The future coach of the Squadra Azzurra will earn 3 million euros a year
Former Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti agreed personal terms with the Italian Football Federation. He will be the head coach Italy national team with an annual salary of 3 million euros, excluding bonuses.
The agreement will be signed by 2026. The appointment is expected to be officially announced on 16 August.
Earlier, Roberto Mancini left the post of head coach of the Squadra Azzurra. The specialist is close to leading the national team of Saudi Arabia.
Spalletti left Napoli after the end of the 2022/23 season. Parthenopei under his leadership became the champions of Italy, winning the first Scudetto in 33 years.
Prior to Napoli, the 64-year-old was the head coach of seven Italian clubs and one Zenit.
The Italian national team is the rival of Ukraine in the selection for the European Championship 2024. Squadra Azzurra will play the next Euro qualifying matches on September 9 with North Macedonia and on September 12 with the team of Sergey Rebrov.
