Wilder manager: I’m optimistic about making a deal to fight Joshua

Earlier, representatives of Saudi Arabia flew to London to finalize the deal.

Former world champion manager Deontay Wilder Shelley Finkel believes that their team will be able to secure a deal to fight the former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

“I am optimistic that Deontay can get a deal to fight Joshua in early 2024,” Finkel said.

Earlier it was reported that representatives of Saudi Arabia arrived in London to finalize the deal for the fight of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder for January 2024. Promoter Eddie Hearn said that all parties are determined to issue a contract for the fight.

Anthony Joshua has said Wilder is very likely to be his next opponent. Coach Deontay Malik Scott said that the American will hold a preparatory fight in the fall, after which he intends to knock out Joshua in January.

Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in the last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Deontay’s last opponent was also Helenius – the American won by knockout in the first round.
