Down-the-line.com/Wrestling. Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) President Mikhail Mamiashvili in an interview with Match TV said that Russia is not going to press charges against Ukrainian wrestlers because of their refusal to shake hands during of the Junior World Championship.
The World Junior Wrestling Championship takes place in Amman (Jordan). Ukrainian wrestlers refused to shake hands with Russian and Belarusian athletes.
“Of course, this is strange behavior. There is no limit to madness. We will not press charges, because our task is to be strong and to achieve victories. There is no place for politics in sport,” Mamiashvili said in an interview with Match. TV.
In April this year, United World of Wrestling (UWW) allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions under neutral status.
