Krasnikov left the post of sports director of Dnepr-1. He will return to Metallist

The functionary has been working in the Dnipro club since last summer

Evgeny Krasnikov resigned as sports director SC Dnepr-1. The functionary said that he would return to metalworker.

“Last year, I accepted the offer of the leadership of Dnipro-1 to take over the selection policy of the club and form a coaching staff. After Igor Jovichevich and seven players of the main squad left the team, I believe that we managed to form a combat-ready team that fought to the last for victory in the championship, made it to the spring stage of European cups, ”Krasnikov said in a conversation with Igor Tsyganyk.

“If I managed to win the championship, I would consider the season successful for myself. At the moment, there is a team left in Dnipro that is ready to fight for the championship this season as well.”

“At the end of the season, I thought about this decision for a long time, but I consider it absolutely right, because I cannot give more than I have given Dnepr-1 to date. And so I turned to the general director Andrei Rusol with a request to dismiss me from the post of sports director. I think that at the moment there are enough specialists in the club who will be able to raise the team to a qualitatively new level.”

“I am very grateful to the fans of the club, the management of Dnipro-1, the head coach and the entire coaching and administrative staff, and especially the players of the Dnipro-1 team, who, in my opinion, did the impossible last season. I wish the Dnipro club great victories.”

“In the near future I plan to return to work in Metallist.”

Last summer, Krasnikov, together with head coach Alexander Kucher, moved from Metalist to SC Dnepr-1. Later, a number of Kharkiv players joined the Dnipro club.

On August 17, Dnipro-1 will play the second leg against Slavia Prague in the third qualifying round of the Europa League. In the first match, Kucher’s team lost with a score of 0:3.

Metalist has not yet won this season – one draw and three defeats. The Kharkiv team occupies the last place in Group A of the First League, and also flew out of the Ukrainian Cup.
