World Athletics Coe chief says Russian athletes are unlikely to compete in the 2024 Olympics

President of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) Sebastian Coe said he does not believe in the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Earlier Thursday, Coe was re-elected president of World Athletics for another four-year term. The vote took place at the 54th World Athletics Congress in Budapest. Coe, 66, won 192 out of 195 votes, with three abstentions.

– It is unlikely that Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able to participate in the Paris Olympics. We have taken a clear position. I would be very surprised if that changed. We have a task force, but it doesn’t look like things are going to change,” Coe told a news conference.
