Ukrainian woman received 144 votes out of 197 Congress delegates
Vice President of the Athletics Federation of Ukraine Natalia Dobrynskaya entered into World Athletics Council (World Athletics).
At the congress in Budapest, the election of the head of World Athletics and members of the governing bodies of athletics took place. Dobrynskaya received 144 votes out of 197 delegates. Note that the head of World Athletics re-elected Sebastian Coe.
Dobrynska is a famous Ukrainian athlete, Olympic champion in heptathlon. The Ukrainian became the world champion and held the indoor pentathlon world record, and was also the winner of the indoor and outdoor all-around world championships.
Earlier it was reported that the former head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka will not run for the governing bodies of World Athletics. Recall that a scandal arose around the functionary regarding possible cooperation with the Russian occupiers.
The World Athletics Congress took place on the eve of the 2023 World Championships in Athletics. Competitions in Budapest will be held from 19 to 27 August.
