Ukrainian will fight for 3rd place with Chinese Tan Zhongyi
Ukrainian chess player Anna Muzychuk lost in a tie-break in the semi-finals World Chess Cup Representative of Bulgaria Nurgyul Salimova.
Our compatriot lost with a final score of 2.5:3.5. Now she has to fight for bronze against Chinese Tan Zhongyi.
Anna beat her sister Maria Muzychuk (2.5:1.5) during the tournament. And before that, another Ukrainian passed, Anna Ushenina (1.5:0.5). In the 1/4 finals, Muzychuk defeated German Elisabeth Petz (4.5:3.5). Thanks to this success, the Ukrainian qualified ahead of schedule for the 2024 Candidates Tournament.
The FIDE World Cup takes place in Baku from 29 July to 25 August.
The 2024 Candidates Tournament will be held in April in Toronto, Canada. Eight chess players will compete for the right to fight for the championship title with Chinese Ju Wenjun.
