The head of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics), Briton Sebastian Coe, pursues a consistent Russophobic policy, said the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov.
On Thursday, Coe said he did not believe in Russian and Belarusian athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He noted that the World Athletics board would not reconsider its position regarding the admission of athletes from these countries.
– I believe that Mr. Coe has pursued a consistent Russophobic policy since his first election as President of World Athletics. Nothing changes in his behavior, only the motives, the factors with which he tries to conceal the Russophobia he shows, change. Of course, such behavior is not inherent in the Olympic family, in which friendship, mutual respect, the pursuit of excellence have always been ideals. Apparently, Mr. Coe has forgotten these ideals, – RIA Novosti Sport quotes Pozdnyakov.
Two-time Olympian Coe has led the organization since 2015 and was re-elected on Thursday for another four-year term.
