Girona announced a historic achievement: for the first time, the number of owners season tickets reached 9700. In many ways, this record is associated with the renewal of subscriptions: 98.8% of their holders made such a decision.
In addition, it is noted that the attendance of the home stadium of the Catalan club Montilivi (capacity – 14624) last season was 82%. This is one of the best numbers in the entire league.
In 2022, Girona returned to La Liga, and at the end of the 2022/23 season, they repeated the club record – 10th place. At the same time, the team, for which the Ukrainian Viktor Tsygankov has been playing since January, until the last round, claimed to get into the European cups.
In the summer, ex-forward Dnipro-1 Artem Dovbik joined the Catalan club, thanks to which Girona became the most “Ukrainian” team of the European top championships.
In the 1st round of the new season, it was the Ukrainians who saved a draw for their club in the game against Real Sociedad. Dovbik, coming on as a substitute, made the score 1:1 with Tsygankov’s pass.
In the next round, Girona will host Getafe on August 20.
