The Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) has explained why it was decided that in the next season competitions between dance and sports couples will not take place at all stages of the Russian Grand Prix.
Earlier, figure skater Fyodor Varlamov told that the number of Russian Grand Prix stages will be reduced for dancers and greenhouses in the 2023/24 season.
– This is basically a standard situation. If you watched last season, two or three couples came in certain stages. This season also showed that enough people were not recruited for the scene. So, of course, all of this has been analyzed. In single skating, there is a sufficient number of participants, so there will be single skaters at all stages. And dances and couples will be presented on several stages. Greenhouses with dancers will change at certain stages. In the calendar of each stage it is written where we will see dancers, where – sports couples and where – all types. All this was done to make the competitions more spectacular for the spectators,” the FFKKR press service said.
The stages of the Russian Grand Prix will begin after the national team skate trials (September 16-17, Moscow) and will take place in six cities: Ufa, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Kazan, Samara and Moscow.
