Swimming test in Paris canceled due to pollution of the Seine

The Paratriathlon World Cup swimming competitions in Paris have been canceled due to poor water quality in the Seine.

— Significant discrepancies and inconsistencies were noted between the results of the latest water quality analyzes provided by the laboratory and the high-frequency sample analyzers. Given this gap, in order not to jeopardize the health and safety of the athletes, it was decided to cancel all swims scheduled for Saturday. Paratriathlon competitions will be held in a duathlon format, the International Triathlon Union said in a statement.

The tournament is a test before the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Earlier, the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) canceled the Open Water Swimming World Cup in Paris due to high levels of pollution in the Seine.

The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
