Bekh-Romanchuk: Protest? Forget it. I went through it, they will not miss in any case

According to the Ukrainian athlete, the electronic system is far from perfect, but she is blindly trusted

Ukrainian athlete Marina Bekh-Romanchuk commented on her poor start at the World Championships in Athletics in Budapest.

Recall that Marina allowed three spades in a row in the sector for long jumps. The Ukrainian side filed a protest against the spade in the second attempt.

“I tried to make the highest quality jump so that it was valid. That’s all. It is a pity that we did not succeed, but we have what we have. Another view ahead. So let’s go out, flip through today’s page and get ready for the triple jump.”

“Everyone was indignant in the stands that there was no spade. I also told the judge, came up and said that I was just in shock. This is generally abnormal, inadequate, but now everything is based on electronics.”

“In general, there is no reliance on any human factors or anything else. It even happened more than once that the athlete had a test attempt, but the result was taken away from him. Or vice versa, when there was an obvious spade, and the athlete was released, because the electronics considered that everything was okay. This is a very controversial system, but, unfortunately, we will not do anything about it – these are new rules, and we are forced to put up with them. Stock up big or you’re a loser, everyone.”

“I would be in the final, but it makes no sense to talk about it. Protest? Forget about drinking water. They won’t let it through, I went through it all, they won’t let it through in any case.”

“There was an identical attempt in Serbia, and they simply said, no matter what they tried to do there, no matter what they said – and it was covered everywhere in social networks, and a lot of accounts were reposted, in fact, no one agreed with this, but it was said: the system said “no”, so no, that’s it. So don’t get your hopes up. I don’t hope, I go out and prepare for a triple.”

Bekh-Romanchuk intended to show maximum results at this World Championship. In addition to the long jump, she will participate in another discipline – the triple jump.

The world championship takes place in the capital of Hungary from 19 to 27 August. The national team of Ukraine at the competition is represented by 29 athletes.
