Russian figure skating champion Elena Radionova in a chat with , she noted a slew of quadruple jumps performed by juniors and also named the three athletes she remembers the most from the skate tests.
From August 16 to 18, the Russian junior team presented the programs for the new season at test skates in Novogorsk.
— How do you assess the level of rentals?
– The juniors showed a very high level of skating. Seems to me they have more quads in their arsenal than adults. This is especially true for girls, they have jumps and luts, and sheepskin coats, and salchows. Junior women’s skating now looks more interesting and confident than adult skating.
– Which of the juniors are you going to score?
– I liked Alena Prineva, Agata Petrova and Kira Trofimova. Very component skaters. If Kira adds elements of ultra-si, she can become the season’s lead, she’s musical, rolls well, and feels the music. Prineva is also sliding well, plus she performed a quadruple lutz, and that’s an application. Petrova has aerial programs that suit her, she dances and hears music well.
– What about the guys?
– Among the boys, I will note Arseny Fedotov, Lev Lazarev and Nikolai Ugozhaev. The first two skaters are light, sound, young, they have a particular energy. I’m sure that after a while they can become leaders in men’s figure skating. Of course, they will have to go through a difficult path, but their potential is enormous.
I would like to point out that our junior skating has improved not only in technical terms, but also in terms of choreography and skating. Despite the high technical difficulty, the juniors showed intense programs with a good second mark. You can see that a lot of work has been done in the offseason. I will be rooting and worrying about the guys in the new season. May they succeed. We have cool young people, – said Radionova
