Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin said that the possibility of organizing a Festival of university teams from CIS countries is being studied.
The International University Sports Festival starts in Yekaterinburg on August 20. Representatives from 36 countries are said to be attending. Competitions will be held in 14 summer sports. The I Games of the CIS countries were held in Belarus from August 4 to 14.
— I think such competitions are promising. In the international federation, we have already started to change the format – to the format of competition between universities, this in itself forms an international culture. On the example of this festival, we realized the interest that this format arouses among universities. This is, I think, the future. And, summing up the results of the second Games of the CIS countries, we decided to consider the possibility of organizing a Festival of university teams of the CIS countries. I think this format is the future, – the correspondent of reports the words of Matytsin.
“Match! Country” will broadcast the opening ceremony of the festival live in Yekaterinburg at 5:00 p.m. Moscow time.
