Fourth medal for Ukraine at the tournament in Croatia
Ukrainian athlete Julia Kurchenko won the silver Judo Grand Prix in Croatian Zagreb.
The judoka in the category up to 78 kilograms defeated three rivals, including the ex-world champion Anna-Maria Wagner from Germany. In the final, Julia lost to Brazilian Carol Jimenez.
This final – and, accordingly, the award – was the first for the 19-year-old Kurchenko in her career at the Grand Prix level. In March 2023, she became the winner of the Grand Slam tournament in Tbilisi.
This is the fourth medal of the Ukrainian team in Zagreb. On the first day of the competition, Dilshot Khalmatov won gold in the category up to 60 kg, and Daria Beloded (up to 57 kg) became a bronze medalist. On August 19, Mikhail Svidrak won the fight for 3rd place in the category up to 83 kilograms.
The stage of the Grand Prix series in Zagreb (Croatia) ends today, August 20.
