Azov thanked Dynamo for support

The NSU Special Purpose Brigade wished the people of Kiev to continue “deservingly representing Ukraine in the international arena”

Special Forces Brigade NSU “Azov” turned to Kyiv Dynamo with gratitude for the support and victory over Aris.

“Thank you to the players and the entire team of Dynamo Kyiv for supporting the special forces brigade of NGU Azov. Your victory over Aris was a worthy response to the baseless accusations and provocations from some Greek fans.”

“We wish the capital club not to stop there and continue to adequately represent Ukraine in the international arena in the new season!” — said in the appeal.

Recall that during the first meeting of the 3rd round of the Conference League qualification in Thessaloniki on August 10, Aris fans posted offensive banners dedicated, in particular, to the Azov Battalion. On this occasion, the UAF turned to UEFA with a request to respond to the actions of the Greek fans.

Immediately after the winning penalty shootout in the second leg, Dynamo players ran up to the guests’ fan stand and began to show provocative gestures, after which a brawl broke out between the players of both teams.

Kiev head coach Mircea Lucescu said he does not approve, but understands the behavior of his players. “The reaction of our players was the result of how the fans of Aris behaved,” the Romanian specialist emphasized at the post-match press conference.

Dynamo captain Sergei Sidorchuk was categorical: “Azov was and remains the heroes that we must tell the world about.”

Dynamo, having lost in the first meeting 0:1, won a strong-willed victory 2:1 in the return match, and then put the squeeze on Aris in the penalty shootout – 6:5. In the playoff round of the Conference League, the white and blue will play against the Turkish Besiktas. The first match is August 24 in Bucharest.
