Yarmolenko: Now there is a situation where we need to endure

According to the Dynamo winger, the reasons for the defeat from Chernomorets are fatigue after Aris and weak team play in defense

Leader Dynamo Andrey Yarmolenko commented on the game against Chernomorets and apologized to the fans for the loss.

“We expected that it would be a difficult game against Chernomorets. We analyzed this opponent, we knew that this is a good team, that they play combinational football. We knew that they would play that way. Perhaps we did not have enough physical condition, because on Thursday we played 120 minutes with Aris, plus transfers, a long road. Therefore, we did not recover properly, and therefore such a result.

“Of course, there were a lot of mistakes on our part, a lot of chances that we didn’t convert, and when you don’t score, you concede. But nothing terrible. I think this will be a lesson for us. Moving on, nothing is over yet, the championship is long. The main thing is to draw the right conclusions both from victories and defeats.”

“Are any emotions left after Aris? Of course, emotionally it’s not easy either when you’re on the pitch for 120 minutes of intense, hard play and then another penalty shoot-out. It’s not easy physically and emotionally. Of course, it is difficult to recover, but what can we do? Now we are in a situation where we have to endure.”

“I apologize to our fans for this result, but this is football, and defeats also happen. We need to accept them with honor and move on. I repeat, nothing terrible has happened, we need to raise our heads and move on, because in four days we have another important game in European competition.”

“Now it’s hard to say about each goal separately, you need to analyze those moments, see who made a mistake. Of course, when you miss, it is the result of mistakes. I think the coaching staff will analyze the situations in which we conceded and show us the shortcomings. In the next matches we have to play better in defense, but this applies not only to the defenders, but to all the team players on the football field, because we miss a lot, and we need to concentrate on the team play in defense.”

Recall that Dynamo sensationally lost to Chernomorets (2:3) in the fourth round of the UPL. Yarmolenko scored a goal in this match – the first from the game after returning to the Kiev club.

Dynamo will play the next match on August 24, Thursday, against Besiktas in Bucharest. In the championship, taking into account the transfers, the white-blues will play already in mid-September, after a pause for the national teams.
