World Athletics did not include Lasitskene and Isinbayeva in the list of the 40 most influential athletes in World Cup history

The world athletics (World Athletics) did not include the three-time high jump world champion Maria Lasitskene and two-time Olympic pole vault champion Elena Isinbayeva in the list of influential athletes in the history of the world championships.

WA released the list as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the World Championships in Athletics. In total, the list is made up of 40 athletes. Among them there is not a single representative of Russia. The ranking compilers separately note that “the list is not exhaustive, but does serve to highlight some of the pioneers of athletics, which has grown considerably over the past 40 years”.

Lasitskene, 30, has won the world high jump championships three times (2015, 2017, 2019). She has also won gold twice at the World Indoor Championships (2014, 2018).
