FSR hailed Goryachkina’s victory at the Chess World Cup

Athletistic/Chess. Russian Chess Federation (RCF) Executive Director Alexander Tkachev has expressed his reaction to Russian chess player Alexandra Goryachkina’s victory at the World Cup held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In the World Cup final, Goryachkina beat Bulgarian chess player Nurgyul Salimova in a tie-break, winning the trophy for the first time in her career.

“Sasha demonstrated his outstanding abilities today. Today’s first match was not only doubtful, but, one might say, even lost. Fortunately, the opponent failed to use him, but this is already her problem. In the second game of the tie-break, Goryachkina had a slight advantage. She was not in a worse position, and even had a slight plus in her position, which finally forced her opponent to make a mistake. In chess, the game not only includes the movement of pieces on the board, but other nuances are also important, such as time management. When Salimova began to run out of time, it affected the outcome .
