Dagestan’s Deputy Sports Minister Budun Budunov told that the Makhachkala Athletics Stadium, which was named after Elena Isinbayeva renamed.
Earlier, the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, asked on social networks to rename the athletic stadium in Makhachkala, named after Isinbayeva. He entrusted this work to the sports ministry of the region and to the mayor of the city.

Earlier, two-time Olympic champion Isinbayeva announced that she would return to work with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in September, and also noted that she had never been in the Russian armed forces and called her rank major of “nominal”. She also said that she “has never been a State Duma deputy or a member of any party.”
Isinbayeva won gold at the 2004 and 2008 Games in the pole vault, she is also a bronze medalist at the 2012 Olympics and a multiple world champion.
