figure skating coach Stanislav Konstantinov told “” how the program production work is progressing.
Konstantinova works as a coach at the training camp of the ISA Figure Skaters Association with Maurice Kvitelashvili, Denis Khodykin, Daria Usacheva and Olga Filippova. In January 2023, Konstantinova announced her retirement.
– How is the production going now?
I find myself in there. It’s a hobby, my outlet. I won’t say I like editing music, I like picking it up. Turns out I have an audience, and I can pretty much stick it. I finally found a good app. Now I don’t have drafts that I send out to musicians with the captions “Don’t judge strictly, I did it on my knee” (laughs). Now the process is much easier. I like to put together programs for the little ones, of course I already want more adult athletes. I tell all my figure skating friends, “Let me show you, let me give you a number, I’ll put it like this!”
Did many agree?
– Yes, everyone already agrees (laughs). I like working with older athletes: the first sports, the CCM. They are ready for anything, but already able to do a lot. They do everything and you develop (their abilities). I always start from the music, I listen to the same piece several times, I take the rhythm, then I see what my student can do. I usually say do the first time “how you feel”. Where will the hands and feet go, we will do something about it, that’s my approach. I try to use a lot of shells (to use).
In my opinion, performances in figure skating cannot stand still. You need to add a lot more from the outside – dances that are not typical for figure skating. It is very important. In my productions I try not to forget the beautiful positions, Konstantinova told .
Konstantinova is the winner of the Grand Prix series and the 2019 Universiade in Krasnoyarsk.
