The school named after four-time Olympic swimming champion Alexander Popov will operate on the territory of the Palace of Water Sports in Yekaterinburg, said Leonid Rapoport, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk region.
The Water Sports Palace will open in 2023. It now hosts the International University Sports Festival.
– The children’s school, which will operate in the Palace of Water Sports, will be named after Alexander Popov. It will be a comprehensive school – swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, – the correspondent reports Rapoport’s words.
Alexander Popov is a quadruple Olympic champion, 6 times world champion, 21 times European champion, multiple world and European record holder.
