Russian figure skater Igor Eremenko paired with Annabel Morozov talked about the specifics of working with a trainer Nikolai Morozov .
Morozov and Eremenko teamed up this offseason, they began training in the United States under Nikolai Morozov. Annabelle’s former partner was David Narizhny, with whom they won two rounds of the Russian Grand Prix last season. Eremenko has skated with Sofia Shevchenko before.
– He is different from the specialists I have worked with. I will not say that training under him required some kind of long-term adaptation, we quickly found a common language, but at first it was unusual. This is a completely different construction of the training process. We had a lot of ice cream in America. When training time is strictly limited, you always know exactly what and in what order you are going to do. Anyway, I’m used to it. And there we went out on the ice, and it was never possible to say in which direction the process could go and what particular detail would affect it. Nikolai is an incredibly creative person in this regard,” Eremenko said.
He also noted that Morozov teaches many things differently. According to him, the staging work was particularly unexpected.
For me, it was just “wow!”. An absolutely amazing experience. I didn’t quite understand, to be honest, how we developed the two programs. I thought the process for everyone was pretty much the same pattern: they had an idea, a start, and then everything was added brick by brick as the music progressed. Here, we worked a little haphazardly on certain parts, without thinking too much about the order in which all of this could be put together. I remember coming home from practice, and Annabelle was like, “Listen, do we already have a schedule? – quotes the words Eremenko RT.
