The London club does not count on the striker
Forward Chelsea Romelu Lukaku trains with the U-21 team and hasn’t even talked to the new coach Mauricio Pochettino. The club does not count on the 30-year-old Belgian, and the striker himself prefers to return to Italy.
There is about a week left before the transfer window closes. The only real contender for Lukaku is reportedly currently Juventus.
Lukaku made 37 appearances in all competitions for Inter last season (on loan), scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists. The Nerazzurri approached Chelsea with an offer to buy the Belgian for 23-26 million pounds, but were refused and turned off negotiations after it was reported that the striker had agreed a personal contract with Juventus.
The Turin club will sign Lukaku only if they get rid of the services of Dusan Vlahovic. The Old Signora twice offered Chelsea the option of exchanging a Serb for a Belgian + an additional payment from the Londoners, but this arrangement did not suit the Blues.
Rumors have also linked Romela to Milan looking to replace Olivier Giroud, but there have been no official talks between the clubs.
Lukaku’s contract with the Blues runs until 2026. Previously, the striker turned down an offer to move to Al-Hilal.
Chelsea have scored one point in their first two Premier League matches. In the next match, the team of Ukrainian Mikhail Mudrik will host Luton on August 25.
