The wife of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, co-owner of the Angela Plushenko Academy, Yana Rudkovskaya, said she was confident that Olympic champion Roman Kostomarov would be able to return to the ice on skates.
On Tuesday, Olympic champion Kostomarov for the first time after illness and amputation of his feet took to the ice in front of the public. This happened during Ilya Averbukh’s ice show “Letters of Love” in Sochi at the Iceberg Arena.
– Isn’t it a miracle! Health and strength to Roman. We are expecting him on the ice already on his skates soon. More than sure he can! — Rudkovskaya wrote on her Telegram channel.
The 46-year-old has suffered multiple amputations since January after being hospitalized. In early July, Kostomarov announced that he was discharged from the hospital, since then videos with the adaptation process appeared on his social networks.
Kostomarov, paired with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin in ice dancing. In addition, the duo won twice at the world championships, three times at the European championships.
