The Russian Figure Skating Federation, the Russian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation should help Roman Kostomarov in rehabilitation and looking for a new path in life, a three-time Olympic figure skating champion, State Duma deputy told Irina Rodnina .

On Tuesday, Olympic champion Kostomarov for the first time after illness and amputation of his feet took to the ice in front of the public. This happened during Ilya Averbukh’s ice show “Letters of Love” in Sochi at the Iceberg Arena.

– It seems to me that Roman is already ready for a full life. He has a very good attitude. Physically he is recovering, psychologically he has been recovering for a long time. Now is the time to think about what he will do next in life. The Russian Figure Skating Federation, the Russian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation should help him to readjust and find a new path and interests in life.

– And to fully return to ice shows?

The 46-year-old has suffered multiple amputations since January after being hospitalized. In early July, Kostomarov announced that he was discharged from the hospital, since then videos with the adaptation process appeared on his social networks.

Kostomarov, paired with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin in ice dancing. In addition, the duo won twice at the world championships, three times at the European championships.
