On Tuesday, Olympic champion Kostomarov for the first time after illness and amputation of his feet took to the ice in front of the public. This happened during Ilya Averbukh’s ice show “Letters of Love” in Sochi at the Iceberg Arena.
– Roman has a unique Olympic character. I was very happy to see him back on the ice. He brought all of us to tears, including me, those were tears of joy for someone who managed to beat such a serious illness, Tarasova told .
The 46-year-old has suffered multiple amputations since January after being hospitalized. In early July, Kostomarov announced that he was discharged from the hospital, since then videos with the adaptation process appeared on his social networks.
Kostomarov, paired with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin in ice dancing. In addition, the duo won twice at the world championships, three times at the European championships.
