Lalatovic: Maybe Slavia is the favourite, but nothing is impossible in football

Coach Zarya – about the opponent, the personnel situation and his belief in the main victory for all Ukrainians

Head coach Zari Nenad Lalatovich on the eve of the fight Europa League in Prague against Slavia shared his opinion about the opponent and the upcoming match, and also congratulated the Ukrainian people on the holidays and wished him a speedy victory.

“First of all, I want to congratulate all Ukrainians on Flag Day today. Tomorrow, as you know, is also a holiday in Ukraine – Independence Day.”

“As for the game, we know that tomorrow we will have a very difficult match. We saw it in fights with Dnepr-1. Slavia is a physically good team, works well under pressure. Runs a lot without a ball. They didn’t lose for a long time. Of course, we came to win. We have nothing to lose. In any case, we will play in the group stage of European competitions, but I would like it to be the Europa League.”

“There will be a lot of pressure on Slavia. Dawn will try to play to the maximum. Maybe Slavia is the favourite, but nothing is impossible in football. The one who wants to win more will go further.”

“We told our guys that we need to play calmly, that there is no pressure on us. Of course, the heroes are those who are now defending Ukraine at the front. But if we get a positive result, give positive emotions to our fans, defenders in this difficult time, then in our own way we can also be heroes.”

“It was a very long road to the Czech Republic from Ukraine. At the same time, it is important that we can finally play a match with fans in the stands, because in our country this is impossible now. This will be an additional motivation for our players. Let’s try to show our best game and win!”

“Each coach can change tactics to make it harder for opponents. But tactics are not the main thing. The most important thing is how our guys will play. Slavia is a well-played team. The trainer has been working here for over five years. We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we want to win every game, whether it’s Slavia or Real Madrid.”

“We have a lot of strong players. Unfortunately, due to an injury, Nazariy Rusin will not play. There will be no Butko, Danchenko. With these players, we would be 30 percent better. But I believe in our guys. I don’t want to single out anyone. We have a large team ready to work for each other. I hope to see it tomorrow too.”

“Our people of Ukraine are in a very difficult situation. I really hope that the war ends as soon as possible. So that no Ukrainian mother would cry for her children again, so that we would be able to live a normal life again. So that training or games are not interrupted by sirens, rocket attacks… My players also deserve to play football at home, with their own fans. I have hope that peace will come soon. I believe in our victory.”

Recall that Slavia reached the playoffs of the Europa League qualification thanks to the victory over Dnipro-1 in the third qualifying round (3:0, 1:1).

The first match of the playoff round between Slavia and Zorya will take place in Prague on 24 August. The meeting starts at 20:00 Kyiv time. The return home match for Zorya will take place in Lublin on August 31 – ticket sales have already started.
