FTAR has proposed to the IWF an alternative declaration for the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions

The Russian Weightlifting Federation (FTAR) has offered the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) an alternative statement for the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions, the athletes are ready to sign this document, reports the press service of the FTAR.

According to FTA President Maxim Agapitov, the current version of the declaration is contrary to the Olympic Charter, the charter of the international federation and violates human rights, which is why Russian athletes refuse to sign it.

— The version of the FTAR declaration reflects the conditions and requirements of all documents regulating the international sports movement. In the FTA’s declaration variant, all athletes are asked to declare their rejection of all forms of violence and injustice, to recognize the inviolability of human life. Athletes must demonstrate respect for human rights, striving to create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, ensuring that each person feels valued and respected, without any distinction such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other beliefs, national beliefs. or social origin, property, family or other status.

Further, no distinction should be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory in which the individual resides.

Athletes must reaffirm their firm commitment to respect the fundamental principles enshrined in the Olympic Charter, as well as in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, guided by the principles of Olympism, peace, justice, respect and equality. FTA says in a statement .

In May, the IWF Executive Committee allowed Russian athletes to participate in competitions with neutral status.
