“The health of the Afghan swimmer who did not complete the distance is not in danger” – IFUS press service in Yekaterinburg

Afghan swimmer Mir Abdul Varen Karimi is in a satisfactory condition, nothing threatens his health, the press service of the organizing committee of the Yekaterinburg International University Sports Festival told .

The incident happened during the preliminary competition. Karimi was unable to complete the 50m freestyle. A man on the side jumped into the water towards the athlete and helped him out of the pool, after which Karimi was taken on a stretcher.

– While swimming, an Afghan athlete had a cramped leg. The personnel of the Palais des Sports Nautiques helped the athlete out of the water and provided him with all the necessary medical assistance. At the moment, nothing threatens the health of the athlete, his condition is considered satisfactory, the organizing committee told correspondent.
