Valeria Chistyakova, club choreographer of Russia’s Honored Coach Tamara Moskvina, spoke to about the style of programs of European figure skating champions Alexandra Boykova And Dmitri Kozlovsky last season.
Boikova and Kozlovsky teamed up in 2015 and won the European Championship in Graz (Austria) in 2020. They also have a bronze medal at the World Championships. In the spring, the skaters announced that they were leaving the Moskvina group to join coach Eteri Tutberidze.
– Tell us how the style of the programs of Boikova and Kozlovsky was born last season.
– The theme of the short film is very interesting – female-male. We decided to take a chance and come up with a pretty sexy program. At least, that’s how I see it. Sasha is one of the most organic Russian figure skaters in this image, Dima is a tall handsome man. The style vibe and the male-female confrontation are generally suitable for guys. A little exaggerated! Sasha and Dima themselves are very passionate, emotional, and the program reflects this. The music was also found in the subject: the German group 2Wei is now listening, the song Hit the Road Jack is epic. Finally, everything went well. The program, as far as I can remember, broke all records among short programs in terms of points and audience interest.
Next, they performed the “Catwoman and Batman” demo number, which the pair performed on the show several times. This is a high heeled style where fashion and hip movements blend together. You know, if Sasha hadn’t been wearing skates, she would have done that dance in heels! Catwoman’s character compels a lot. We tried to embody these characters on the ice as much as possible, but adding our own vision and a little humor.
– The skaters plan to leave the short program for the new season, which you managed to set up before leaving. What can you say about her?
– Let the details be after the premiere. I will only note that this program is softer and more lyrical than the last short by Sasha and Dima. She’s talking about something else. I found the music: a remix of a well-known song, everyone liked it. And the images were born from the song itself,” Chistyakova told .
