European swimming champion Ilya Borodin spoke about his impressions of the new Palace of Water Sports in Yekaterinburg.
Borodin finished third in the 800m freestyle at the International University Sports Festival. His main disciplines are the complex 200 and 400 meters.
– It’s not the first time I’ve swum the 800 meter freestyle, but if you put it in the championship, with a complex of 400 meters at the end of the competition, it will be tough. But in such competitions you can sometimes try.
– This is your first start in the new pool in Yekaterinburg. Do you like this place?
“Interesting swimming pool, interesting village. I think it’s certainly not the last competition in this pool.
– Is there anything to improve?
– The water would be warmer. The first day the water was just a glacier. But I like the organization itself – there are a lot of volunteers, they will always help, they will always encourage. I don’t see any downside here. Big starting pool, big buyout. The stands were visually full, I didn’t feel like they were empty, Borodin told .
