“There is no ideal place for training in the middle mountains in Russia and the CIS countries” – coach Sorin about the gathering of skiers in Armenia

Egor Sorin, coach of the Russian cross-country ski team, told that it is not easy for athletes to train at an altitude of 1950 meters at a training camp in Armenia, and that in Russia and the CIS countries there is no ideal place. for mid-mountain training.

Sorin’s group has been holding training camps in Armenia since August 15. Earlier, the coach told that Sergey Ustyugov and Ilya Poroshkin missed training camp.

How is the collection going? What high loads are imposed on athletes and how do they bear them?

We work in the Midlands. The height of 1950 meters is not easy, so the loads are relatively low, especially in terms of intensity. It’s not easy for athletes, each acclimatization went differently, someone still has answers to acclimatization processes.

We get acquainted with this height, everyone came to Armenia for the first time. It will be possible to understand how this place works and what effect we can get from these mountains in the future, both from the summer championship and from working on the plains.

– Is there a developed infrastructure, does your group have everything necessary?

– In Russia and the CIS countries there is no ideal place for training in the middle mountains. But there are many bases on flat land. Here are the best conditions for us. There is a small ski-roll circle over 3.5 kilometers, that’s enough for us. There are several roads where you can ride and many cross-country ski trails. Plus several sports halls: for boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, for team sports.

The only thing that has upset is the 50 meter pool which is under reconstruction. If we come back here in the future, we can use it in preparation. There is no problem with food, accommodation is also good. I would rate the conditions at four points.

– The weather conditions do not interfere?

It almost never rains in this region. Every day we are here, the sun was shining, the temperature did not exceed 30 degrees, but sometimes it was hot.

— For athletes, the safety factor on public roads is always in the foreground. How is it in Armenia?

We take roads with little traffic. These are minor leads; cars are very rare on weekdays. Yes, there are more cars at the weekend, which complicates the training process, but the drivers are very cultured, they drive at low speeds. They understand that driving on the road, where there are people and livestock, is not worth it. We had no problems during the entire collection.

Another thing is in Terskol, where we trained earlier. The place is good, but the main drawback is the federal road and there was nowhere to ride safely.

– Do you train alone at the training camp or are there representatives of other teams?

– At the same time, there was a group of Oleg Perevozchikov with us, they arrived earlier, left earlier, and biathletes from Belarus will also come here at the end of the month. In addition to skiers and biathletes, a large number of tennis players from CIS countries took part in the tournament, Sorin told .
