Terms – lease with option to buy
Empoli officially announced the loan of the Ukrainian midfielder Atalanta Viktor Kovalenko.
The midfielder moved to the camp of the Blues on a one-year loan. The contract also includes the option to buy out the contract of the Ukrainian.
Recall that Kovalenko moved to Atalanta in February 2021, but for the entire time he played for the club from Bergamo for only three minutes. He was loaned twice to La Spezia, where he made 47 appearances in two seasons (one goal and five assists).
Last season, Empoli finished 14th in Serie A. The Tuscan club started the 2023/24 season poorly: they lost to Cittadella in the Coppa Italia, and then lost to Verona (0:1) in the first round at home.
In the 2nd round of Serie A, Paolo Zanetti’s wards will play away against Monza on August 26.
