Bekh-Romanchuk wins silver in triple jump at 2023 World Championships in Athletics

The Ukrainian was in the lead until the last attempt

Ukrainian athlete Marina Bekh-Romanchuk won a silver medal in the triple jump 2023 World Championships in Athletics.

The Ukrainian with a personal record of the season took the intermediate lead at the very beginning of the competition, jumping 15 meters. Beh-Romanchuk was in the lead until the last attempt, when she was surpassed by 8 centimeters by multiple world champion Yulimar Rojas from Venezuela. In the final jump, the Ukrainian made a spade and took second place.

Bekh-Romanchuk wins the silver of the world championship for the second time, earlier the Ukrainian became the second at the 2019 World Cup in long jump. A jump of 15 meters exactly is the second personal result of Marina in her career after a record of 15.02 meters at the European Championships 2022.

Recall that earlier Bekh-Romanchuk at the 2023 World Cup failed to break into the finals of the long jump. She did not count any of the three attempts. Subsequently, the spade on the second attempt was protested by the Ukrainian side, but to no avail.

The world championship takes place in the capital of Hungary from 19 to 27 August. The national team of Ukraine at the competition is represented by 29 athletes.
