Briton loses 106kg for first time since 2017
British heavyweight Joe Joyce believes that the holder of the WBA Regular title Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs) acted wisely by losing weight ahead of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight title fight Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).
“I think this is a good step to become lighter, faster and more agile. Especially if Dubois can work longer, be able to comfortably take all twelve rounds while being lighter.”
“He’s a very strong puncher, but if you can’t hit Usyk, how are you going to knock him out. I noticed that Usyk also knows how to throw punches and holds them a lot, so it’s difficult. It’s an ordeal, but good luck to Dubois.”
Previously, boxers went through the official weigh-in procedure before the fight. Alexander’s weight was 100.2 kg, Dubois showed a figure of 105.8 kg on the scales. The Briton for the first time since 2017 has reached the mark of lighter than 106 kilograms.
