21-year-old midfielder left Celta
Al Ahli officially announced the signing of midfielder Celts and Spanish youth team Gabriel Veigi. The 21-year-old midfielder signed a three-year contract with the club from Saudi Arabia.
In the summer, Manchester City, Napoli and a number of other European clubs showed interest in Veiga. The ransom of the Spaniard was 40 million euros.
Veiga is a graduate of Celta. The midfielder scored 11 goals and made 4 assists in 39 games last season.
As part of the Spanish youth team, Veiga reached the final of the European Championship 2023, where the Spaniards lost to England (0:1). The midfielder came on as a substitute in six championship fights, without distinguishing himself with effective actions.
Al Ahly has signed Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, ex-Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino, Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez, Newcastle midfielder Allan Saint-Maximin and Barcelona midfielder Frank Kessier.
Al Ahly won 3 out of 3 matches at the start of the Saudi Arabian Championship. The team will play the next match on August 29 against Al-Tai.
