Ukrainian won in the ninth round
Ukrainian world heavyweight champion WBA/WBO/IBO/IBF Oleksandr Usyk defeated British boxer Daniel Dubois. The fight took place in Wroclaw at the Tarczynski Arena.
The first rounds were traditionally held at a calm pace, the opponents looked closely at each other and did not move forward so actively. Both boxers used the jab, but Usyk worked as the first number, hit the Brit more often and looked better in the starting rounds. Dubois worked from a distance and used the hook somewhat well.
In the fifth round, Usyk was on the floor after Dubois hit the Ukrainian below the belt. The referee gave Alexander time to recover, after which the fight continued.
By the middle of the fight, the Ukrainian continued to throw more punches and move more often, while the British challenger acted on the counterattacks and forced Oleksandr to exchange blows. At the same time, Usyk closed the rounds several times with explosive series of accurate strikes.
At the end of the eighth round, Usyk knocked down Dubois, but the Briton managed to get up and continue the fight. And in the ninth round, the Ukrainian knocked out the Briton after another accurate blow.
For the Ukrainian undefeated boxer, this victory was the 21st in the professional ring, the 14th time Usyk ended the fight ahead of schedule. Dubois suffered the second defeat of his career.
