The referee stopped the fight after the Ukrainian was pinned against the ropes
Ukrainian heavyweight Andrey Rudenko (35-7, 21 KOs) lost to the American Jared Anderson (16-0, 15 KOs) by technical knockout in the fifth round.
The fight took place on the night of August 26-27 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The bout was the main event of the evening of boxing on ESPN. Earlier, Andriy said that he would dedicate the fight with Andersen to the people of Ukraine.
Anderson owned the initiative from the first minutes. Rudenko tried to break the rhythm of the American, but to no avail. At the beginning of the fifth round, the judges deducted a point from the Ukrainian for a headbutt. And in the middle of the same three-minute period, Anderson managed to pin Andrey against the ropes, after which the referee stopped the fight.
Rudenko in his previous fight in January defeated the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bojan Chestic. Anderson, 23, had his second fight in two months. On July 1, the American defeated former world heavyweight champion Charles Martin by unanimous decision.
