Russian judokas prepare for world championships in Tashkent, federation says

Russian Judo Federation (RDF) sporting director Kirill Denisov told that the Russian team is planning to perform at the World Championships in Tashkent and is tuning in to those competitions.

Earlier it was announced that Russian judokas will participate in the international tournament in Ulaanbaatar as neutral athletes under the flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF). The world championship will take place in Tashkent from October 6 to 13.

– We went to Mongolia with peace of mind, because a month ago we organized international training camps here with judokas from Mongolia. Our team is loved here. The IJF also warmly welcomed us saying that we are part of a big family of judokas.

It is a difficult question to know why the IJF was the first of the international federations to admit Russian athletes. Again, the IJF President said that we are one big family in this sport, so our athletes have to do their job – compete. At the moment we are planning to go to the World Championship in Tashkent, we are already preparing. Uzbekistan is also a friendly country that loves Russian judokas. We will prepare and then we will see,” Denisov said.
