Jima finished fourth in the women’s mass start at the 2023 Summer Biathlon World Championships

Yulia is a second behind the bronze medalist, Merkushina is in the top 10

Ukrainian Yulia Jima finished fourth in the women’s mass start at the summer biathlon world championship 2023.

Our biathlete made one miss and was 1.1 seconds behind Germany’s Marion Wiesensarter, who won third place. Gold was taken by the representative of the Czech Republic Marketa Davidova.

In addition to Jima, five more Ukrainians participated in the mass start. Anastasia Merkushina (two misses) finished ninth, Kristina Dmitrenko and Daria Blashko finished in the top 20.

Recall that earlier in the men’s mass start Ukrainian Taras Lesyuk won gold.

In general, the World Championship, which was hosted by the Slovak Brezno-Osrbli from August 24 to 27, was successful for Ukraine. So, Alexandra Merkushina and Elena Gorodnaya together climbed the podium in the women’s junior super sprint. In a similar race in men, silver was brought to Ukraine by Sergey Suprun, and in the super sprint among adults, Artem Tishchenko won bronze.

In addition, in the junior sprint, representatives of Ukraine occupied the entire podium. Mandzyn and Borkowski took silver and bronze in the junior pursuit.
