“Cancel also Zagitova”? Foreigners destroyed the ISU for boycotting Shcherbakova on Olympic Day

In the sports environment there is such a holiday – the International Olympic Day. It was created in 1948 and has been celebrated on June 23 ever since – in honor of the date when the famous Pierre de Coubertin actually founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC). They don’t celebrate it on a large scale, but you may come across a few mentions. For example, Olympic figure skating champion Anna Shcherbakova congratulated subscribers on social networks with him, as well as federations of various types.

Naturally, the International Skating Union (ISU) has not missed out, which is in charge of figure skating, dear to the heart of every Russian. In honor of the holiday, SMM specialists from the union have created a collage with the main stars of the individual tournament of the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

Here they are, as they say, from left to right:

French dancing couple Gabriela Papadakis/Guillaume Sizeron (gold), American single skater Nathan Chen (gold), Japanese single skater Kaori Sakamoto (bronze) and Chinese twins Sui Wenjing/Han Cong (gold).

It’s easy to guess who’s missing here. For some strange reason (although we all know why), the only unmentioned Olympic champion from Beijing, Russia’s Shcherbakova, is missing from the list. Or if not even Shcherbakova, then at least silver medalist Alexander Trusov. Also, of course, from Russia.

In general, bliss therefore bliss, say nothing. But everything is in order – as if the head of the ISU SMM told us and inserted the hashtag #MoveForPeace in the first sentence of the message with the collage, which explains to us – the narrow-mindedness, why Shcherbakova, who won the Olympics with two quadruple cleans on new unrolled skates, is in the toughest season for herself, unworthy of congratulations along with the rest of the champions. Or why the first girl in history who performed five quads in a program isn’t in the picture.

“Yes, she’s there,” ISU tells us and shows us a photo of Sakamoto. Brilliant, by the way, figure skater. Warm regards to my beloved Japanese smart girl, who did the impossible – corrected the bad edge on the lutz. Triple, like all the rest of his jumps. Kaori did not jump the quadruple and triple axel at the Olympics (and so far, in principle) – and remained third.

And Sasha Trusova, who won silver in a fair fight … By the way, June 23 is also her birthday. Good day to you, Sasha! Since the ISU, in the pursuit of the mental health of athletes (obviously, the pursuit of selective athletes), is not capable of any decency, then at least we will correct ourselves for them.

It’s curious, but the reaction to such a demonstrative abolition of the Russian lonely woman in the union’s social networks was far from approving. And they were indignant at the absence of Russians, which is even more curious, foreign fans.

Nat: “Did you cancel Anna Shcherbakova? Otherwise, I don’t understand why you didn’t post a picture of her with the rest of the Olympic champions.

Tom Anyalina OGMIsabeau JWC: Hello! You seem to have forgotten who your Olympic champions are.

youzi: “Is Sakamoto really the Beijing 2022 Olympic champion in women’s singles?”

小狗屁: “Where is Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova?”.

LL: “It’s a shame that the ISU is turning its back on Anna’s accomplishments at the Olympics solely on the basis of ‘political correctness’. She has shown nothing but superb sportsmanship and deserves to be recognized along with other gold medalists.”

NYStylist: “Olympism celebrates how sport can bring people together around the world. But how can you promote peace if you become one of those who promote chaos?

Anastasiia Ebuntsova: “Out of pure curiosity, did the ISU cancel all the Olympic champions from Russia? Zagitova, is Yagudin still on the champion list or what?

周77: “The ISU has no heart. Why can they deprive an athlete of honors just because of his nationality? Anna is a worthy champion.

ChiShinGa: Have you forgotten who won the 2022 Women’s Olympics? Well, let me remind you – it’s Anna Shcherbakova, not Kaori Sakamoto.

And that’s just a small part of the disturbances that the ISU will never respond to. Neither the calls to adhere to the principle “Sport is out of politics”, nor the requests to listen to the voice of reason, which shouts squarely in your ears that the Olympics were before all well-known events, and therefore the achievements of Russian figure skaters in Beijing, even in theory, can in no way interfere with the “peace movement”, not plead not to be petty and not to ignore the gigantic contribution that our girls have made to skating world artistic – all this sports officials do not and will not answer.

Well, if so, I offer the ISU another candidate for cancellation. Since we are discussing the International Olympic Day, the forerunner of which was Pierre de Coubertin, here is a curious fact for you to think about – the greatest sports official of all times and peoples not only did not interfere with the Olympics of 1936 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen (Nazi Germany, which is not ongoing), but later defended these Games in every possible way. And also – he conducted a rather active and quite friendly correspondence with Adolf Hitler, whose views on the same #MoveForPeace need no introduction.

I hope the gentlemen of the ISU will consider this interesting fact in their excellent policy and take decisive action. Or is it different?
