Ukrainians bounced back from 0:2 in sets, but lost in a tie-break
Ukrainian women’s volleyball team lost Czech Republic in the 1/8 final match European Championship 2023.
The first two sets were left for the Czech volleyball players, but the Ukrainians managed to show character and make a comeback. At the same time, in the fourth installment, Ivan Petkov’s team defeated their rivals – 25:10.
The fate of the meeting and tickets to the 1/4 finals was decided on a tie-break. The Ukrainians were leading 3:1, but missed the breakthrough of the Czech team and lost 12:15.
For the second time in a row, Ukraine completes its performance at the European Championship at the 1/8 final stage. In 2021, the Blue-Yellows lost to Poland in the playoffs.
In September, the Ukrainian women’s team will play in the qualifying round of the 2024 Olympics. The opponents of the blue-yellows are China, Serbia, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands, Canada, the Czech Republic and Mexico.
In the 1/4 finals of the European Championship 2023 will play Italy – France, Turkey – Poland, the Netherlands – Bulgaria and Serbia – Czech Republic. The final of the tournament will take place on September 3rd.
