Lazio reach agreement with Marseille on loan for Guendouzi

The move of the French midfielder to Rome is a matter of the next few hours

Lazio And Marseilles agreed on the transfer of the midfielder Matteo Guendouzi on a leasehold basis with an obligation to buy.

Earlier, the Roman club sold midfield leader Sergiy Milinkovic-Savic to Al-Hilal, and is also close to parting with ex-Shakhtar player Marcos Antonio. In turn, ex-Eintracht footballer Daichi Kamada joined the ranks of the Eagles this summer.

Guendouzi, 24, belonged to Arsenal from 2018 to 2022 until Marseille bought his contract. Last season, the versatile central midfielder was a partner and competitor of Ukrainian Ruslan Malinovsky.

This season, Matteo managed to appear in four matches, but not in any of them from the first minutes. Olimpik managed to fly out of Panathinaikos from the Champions League qualification (the Greeks had previously passed SC Dnepr-1), and scored 7 points in three rounds in the French Championship.

Lazio began the 2023/24 season shockingly – with two defeats from Lecce and Genoa (in the premiere match of the same Malinovsky for the new club).
