The club management preferred Dnepr-1 ex-coach to Dulub
Former coach SC Dnepr-1 Oleksandr Kucher will soon lead LNZ.
Sport Arena previously reported that the 40-year-old Kucher is one of the candidates for the position of successor to his peer Alexander Kovpak, along with the more experienced Oleg Dulub and Viktor Skripnik.
It was Dulub who was considered the most likely contender for the vacant position, but the leadership of the Cherkasy club opted for the ex-mentor of Metallist and Dnepr-1.
Oleksandr Kucher resigned from the post of head coach of Dnipro after losing to Obolon (1:2) on August 20.
On August 23, LNZ parted ways with Kovpak, under whom the club entered the Premier League for the first time in its history. The management made the decision to resign after losing to Victoria Sumy (0:1) in the fourth preliminary round of the Ukrainian Cup.
After that, LNZ appointed Yuriy Dudnik as acting head coach. Andrei Dikan became the coach’s assistant and the new goalkeeping coach.
In the first match after the dismissal of Kovpak, LNZ lost at home to Metalist 1925 (0:1). In the next round on September 3, LNZ will play with SC Dnepr-1.
