Kiev mentor noted the pressure of the Turkish stands in the upcoming meeting
Head coach Dynamo Mircea Lucescu commented on the upcoming return match with Besiktas in the playoffs Conference leagues.
“We are well prepared for tomorrow’s match. We showed a good game in the first match, despite the fact that Besiktas is a strong, good club. They carried out high-quality transfers, created a strong European team, made up of not only Turkish performers.”
“I repeat, we looked good in the first leg and lost only after a few separate episodes, conceding after a penalty, a corner and a counterattack. At the same time, we created good chances to score more, so the result could have been different. I’m sure my team is well prepared for tomorrow’s game.”
“Of course, I understand that the atmosphere, the pressure from the stands can greatly affect the game of our players. The first 15 minutes will be the most difficult for us. But I believe that my players will play a good match tomorrow against a strong opponent.”
The first meeting ended with the victory of Besiktas with a score of 3:2. The Kyivians bounced back twice during the game, but conceded the final goal in the last minutes of stoppage time.
The return match for the right to get into the group stage of the Conference League will take place on August 31. The meeting in Istanbul at Besiktas Park will begin at 21:00 Kyiv time.
The main referee of the meeting will be the Portuguese Joao Pinheiro. Match assistants will be his compatriots Bruno Jesus and Luciano Maia. Reserve referee – Claudio Pereira.
