Lavrinenko: As the game showed, we clearly fulfilled what we planned

Veres’ mentor is pleased with the actions of his wards in the victorious match against Chernomorets

Head coach Veresa Sergey Lavrinenko commented on the debut victory of his team in the new UPL season.

“Today we defeated a very good opponent. Chernomorets is a very fast team. We paid a lot of attention to working on how to play against them correctly. The red card that the football player of Chernomorets received at the start of the game was the result of an attack prepared by us. We knew that the opponent would put pressure on us, play with a high defensive line. Therefore, we worked out this moment and realized this chance well.

“Further to us, however, it was not much easier. Because we were preparing for the game as number two, to use the space behind the opponent’s backs. And after the removal, Chernomorets sat down low and it was much more difficult for us.

“I liked the reaction of the team to the conceded goal. There was no panic. We realized that there was still a lot of time. As the game showed, we clearly fulfilled what we planned.”

“We had a very difficult start. But even in the previous matches we lost, we looked good. I think we lost to Vorskla not on the game. Now the guys understand better what we demand from them. Less vertical passing, more ball handling. The pattern of the game has changed and the players believe that they can play this kind of football.”

“We involve a lot of young people in the training process. I attend all U19 matches. Eleven-twelve players of the youth team work with us regularly. Who is more, who is less, but we are constantly attracting young people.”

Recall that Veres beat Chernomorets with a score of 3:1 in the fifth round, who played from the 10th minute in the minority. Lavrinenko’s team, scoring 4 points, climbed to 14th place.

In the next round, Veres will play with Kryvbas on September 17.
