Two Portuguese João joined the Catalan club on a one-year agreement without the right to buy
At the very end of the transfer window Barcelona managed to sign two Portuguese forward Joao Felix and defender Joao Cancelo.
The 23-year-old attacking player comes from Atlético Madrid. The 29-year-old wide back is from Manchester City. Both players signed until June 30, 2024 without the possibility of redemption.
Blaugrana has been working hard to get Felix’s transfer done and still stay within the financial fair play framework. The unnecessary Atlético forward of the Portuguese national team wanted to go to Barcelona so much that he was ready to take a chance and wait until the end of the TO. If the lease fell through, he would have to consider proposals from Saudi Arabia.
The lease of Cancelo, in whose services Guardiola is not interested, was agreed a few days ago. Fullback Gorozhan also spent the second half of last season on loan in Bayern. Munich did not redeem the player’s contract for 70 million euros at the end of the agreement.
Barcelona are in fourth place in La Liga after three rounds with 7 points, behind Girona and Atlético on goal difference. On Sunday, September 3, Xavi’s men will play away against Osasuna.
